The OPPO Reno 8 series is all ready to launch in India on July 18th, with two models: the OPPO Reno 8 and the OPPO Reno 8 Pro (rebrand of the OPPO Reno 8 Pro+ China). We know the specifications and what to expect because the phones have already debuted in China. While we wait for the announcement, the company has revealed the OPPO Reno 8 series chipset and liquid cooling details. The MediaTek Dimensity chipsets will power the OPPO Reno 8 and OPPO Reno 8 Pro phones.
The Reno 8 will ship with the new Dimensity 1300 SoC, an upgrade over the Reno 7’s MediaTek Dimesity 900. On the other side, the OPPO Reno 8 Pro will be equip with the 5nm MediaTek Dimensity 8100-MAX. Which is said to provide a 25% improvement in CPU power efficiency over 6nm-class Dimensity chips.
Reno 8 Pro: The Dimensity 8100 chipset in the Reno 8 Pro is an octa-core chipset with four 2.85GHz ARM Cortex-A78 super cores and the ARM Mali-G610 MC6 graphics. It supports MediaTek HyperEngine 5.0 gaming technology, which includes AI-VRS graphics enhancement. Second-generation Wi-Fi/Bluetooth coexistence technology, and Bluetooth LE Audio technology with Dual-Link True Wireless Stereo Audio.
The SoC includes an Imagiq ISP clocked at 5Gpixel/s for best-in-class photo and video capture.
It can capture three exposures per frame for accurate HDR results and supports two cameras recording simultaneously. In addition, the fifth-generation MediaTek APU 580 provides energy-efficient performance in AI-multimedia, AI-camera, and social video experiences.
Reno 8: The Reno 8 will use the MediaTek Dimensity 1300 SoC instead of the Dimensity 900 found in the Reno 7. The new 6nm octa-core CPU includes a 3GHz ARM Cortex-A78 ‘ultra-core’ processor for improved performance. It has three premium Cortex-A78 cores, four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. And the same HyperEngine 5.0 gaming technologies as the previous model. In addition, the chipset includes AV1 video decoding hardware, which provides clearer audio and richer visual detail.
Battery: The phones are confirm to have a 4,500mAh battery with OPPO’s TUV Rheinland-certify 80W SuperVOOC flash charge technology. It claims to charge up to 50% in just 11 minutes. According to OPPO, the phones can retain 80 percent of their original capacity even after 1,600 charge cycles.
