Nepal creates world record by scoring 314runs in 20 overs. Kushal Malla scored the fastest 100 in the t20 history.
Several long-standing records in the format were broken in the inaugural Men’s T20 International in Asian Games competition between Nepal and Mongolia.
Nepal’s score of 314/3 is the highest ever in T20 cricket, surpassing Afghanistan’s total of 278/3 against Ireland in Dehradun in February 2019, which was later matched by Czech Republic, which reached 278/4 against Turkey in Ilfov County later that year.
The highest number of sixes:
Nepal’s 26 sixes are the most ever in a T20 innings for a team, surpassing the 23 hit by Balkh Legends versus Kabul Zwanan in Sharjah in the now-defunct Afghanistan Premier League in 2018.
The previous highest total in a T20 International was 22 by Afghanistan against Ireland in Dehradun in 2019, which was then matched by West Indies against South Africa in Centurion earlier this year.
Nepal scored 212 runs in boundaries, including 14 fours and 26 maximums.
It is the most in a T20, surpassing 210 apiece by Royal Challengers Bangalore against Pune Warriors in Bengaluru in the 2013 IPL and India against Sri Lanka in Indore in 2017.
Fastest 100 by Kushal Malla:
34 balls Kushal Malla scored his maiden T20 International century in 34 deliveries, breaking the 35-ball record set by David Miller (vs. Bangladesh, Potchefstroom, 2017), Rohit Sharma (vs. Sri Lanka, Indore, 2017), and Sudesh Wickramsekara (Czech Republic vs Turkey, Ilfov County, 2019).
It is also the greatest individual score for Nepal in T20Is, surpassing Airee’s unbroken 110 against Malaysia last year in Kirtipur.
The 193-run third-wicket stand between Malla and Airee is the best for third wicket or lower in T20Is, surpassing the 184-run third-wicket stand between Devon Conway and Glenn Phillips against the West Indies in Mount Maunganui in 2020.
It is also the most ever wicket for Nepal in T20Is, surpassing the 171 scored by Airee and Kushal Bhurtel against the Philippines in Al Amerat in 2022.
The fastest fifty in the history:
Airee’s strike rate is 52 runs off 10 balls. It is the highest in a T20 for an inning of ten or more balls, surpassing Malcolm Waller’s 10-ball undefeated 43 for the Mid West Rhinos against the Matabeleland Tuskers in Bulawayo in 2016.
Norman Vanua’s 12-ball 47 for PNG against Vanuatu in Apia in July 2019 was the previous high for a T20 International.
Mongolia’s riposte of 41 all-out extras. Davaasuren Jamyansuren, the innings’ highest scorer, was the only batter to reach double figures.
Extras accounted for 56% of Mongolia’s total; the first-time extras contributed more than 50%.
The previous high was 34.6%, with China’s total of 26 (nine extras) against Thailand earlier this year in Kuala Lumpur.
