Former AAP MLA Bhupendra Bhayani Joins BJP in Gujarat

Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Bhupendra Bhayani, who had resigned from the Gujarat legislative assembly and AAP in December, officially joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The joining ceremony took place at a function in Bhesan village, Junagadh, in the presence of state BJP president CR Paatil.

Homecoming for Bhupendra Bhayani:

Bhupendra Bhayani, who previously represented the Visavadar seat in Junagadh as an AAP MLA, described his move to the BJP as a “homecoming.”

He highlighted his previous association with the BJP before being elected as an MLA and expressed his commitment to developing his constituency under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Development Focus and Confidence in BJP’s Victory:

During his interaction with reporters, Bhayani emphasized that his decision to join the BJP was driven by the aim of developing his constituency rather than seeking a position or electoral ticket.

He expressed confidence in the BJP’s victory in the upcoming by-election in Visavadar, irrespective of the chosen candidate.

AAP’s Previous Electoral Success in Gujarat:

In the 2022 assembly polls in Gujarat, Bhayani was one of the five AAP MLAs elected, marking the party’s first-ever success in the state’s assembly elections.

The BJP secured a significant majority in the elections with 156 out of 182 seats.

At the time of his resignation from AAP, Bhayani, who previously served as the sarpanch of Bhesan village, expressed his belief that AAP was not the right platform for serving the people. He stated that nationalists like him could not remain with the party for an extended period.
