As the cases of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) continue to soar in the national capital, the Arvind Kejriwal government ordered on Wednesday, no more than 50 individuals may be invited to a wedding in Delhi. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has said the revised cap was approved by Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal.
As Delhi witnessed new cases of coronavirus disease in the week ending November 14 and regular fatalities hovered around 100 a day the government revised the previous limit of 200 individuals.
ANI quoted Sisodia:
This was crucial because the larger the crowd at a venue, the more damaging it is. “Lockdown will not be enforced, but people must be prevented from gathering in large numbers,” the news agency ANI quoted Sisodia as saying.
No more lockdown in Delhi but local Restrictions:
Earlier in the day, health minister Satyendar Jain assured both Sisodia and Delhi that there will be no lockdown in the city, but local limitations are likely to be enforced in some locations.
From 200 to 50 guest in weeding by Kejriwal:

Steady Spike in Cases:
The Centre is also preparing a house-to-house survey in Delhi as the infection tally in the capital has witnessed a steady rise. Plan for an advanced house-to-house survey in Delhi after the Union Home Minister @AmitShah held a meeting on the Delhi COVID situation on November 15.
The survey is expected to begin by the weekend and be completed by November 25,’ tweeted the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
ICMR and Govt of NCT working together:
In order to ensure early detection and care of Covid-19 patients, the Centre, and the Delhi government have also stepped-up testing. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Governor of NCT of Delhi are working together to increase RT-PCR testing capability to 60,000 tests by the end of November in a further move led by Union Home Minister @AmitShah. The Union Home Ministry said in another tweet that testing capability had already been enhanced by 10,000 tests per day on November 17.
Delhi’s Covid Cases on Tuesday:
Delhi’s Covid-19 was over 495,000 as of Tuesday evening. The number has been increasing since the last week of October when 5,000-mark regular cases were breached by the city. On November 11, it also recorded more than 8,000 cases, which is the highest daily number so far.
