World’s biggest vaccine study gets underway as the global death toll surpassed 654,000. 

On Tuesday, the global COVID-19 tally crossed 16.5 million mark with more than 654,000 patients dying. The three worst-affected countries in the world, as per WHO are United States, Brazil, and India. The COVID-19 vaccine study began with the first of 30,000 volunteers helping to test shots of a US government vaccine candidate. However, the candidate developed by the National Institutes of Health and Moderna Inc still has no guarantee of being able to protect.   

Pakistan’s COVID-19 tally rose to 274,908:

As per its Health Ministry’s data, Pakistan witnessed fresh 936 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours as its tally reached 274,908. The nationwide death toll rose to 5,865, after reporting new 23 deaths. Over 2.4 lakh people have recovered from the fatal virus in Pakistan.

China’s Xinjiang reports a fresh set of coronavirus cases:

On Tuesday, China’s northwestern region of Xinjiang reported new 57 coronavirus infections. The outbreak occurred in Xinjiang’s capital, Urumqi, where public transport has been restricted and rigorous testing has begun along with isolation of some communities by the authorities in the city. With the virus, originating from Wuhan, China has successfully contained the virus with just 4634 deaths among the 83,959 cases.  

Majority Google employees to work from home until July 2021:

The world’s most trusted internet search engine, Google, has decided to extend the timeline of working from home for the majority of its employees, until 2021 July. Most of its 200,000 employees have been sent an order regarding the same and CEO Sundar Pichai also wrote to Google’s corporate parent, Alphabet Inc. about the extension.
