Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel announced an allocation of Rs 100 crore for the resurfacing and repairing of urban roads damaged during the monsoon season.
This initiative aims to enhance road safety, improve road quality, and elevate the Ease of Living for urban residents facing challenges due to heavy monsoon rains.
Proactive Approach and Funding Source:
CM Patel has taken a proactive approach to address the damage promptly. Allocating funds in advance, allowing municipalities to plan and begin repair work immediately.
These funds are allocated from the ‘Swarnim Jayanti Mukhyamantri Shaheri Vikas Yojana,’ launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his tenure as Gujarat’s Chief Minister to commemorate the state’s golden jubilee.
For 2024-25, a provision of Rs 400 crore has been made under the Mukhyamantri Shaheri Sadak Yojana.
Distribution of Funds by CM Bhupendra Patel:
The Rs 100 crore allocation will be distributed across 157 municipalities. It’s based on their category to ensure prompt action post-monsoon and provide citizens with improved roads quickly:
- Category ‘A’: 22 municipalities will receive Rs 1 crore each.
- Category ‘B’: 30 municipalities will receive Rs 80 lakh each.
- Category ‘C’: 60 municipalities will receive Rs 60 lakh each.
- Category ‘D’: 45 municipalities will receive Rs 40 lakh each.
Total Allocation for Road Repairs:
Under the Mukhyamantri Shahri Sadak Yojana, the state government has allocated a total grant of Rs 810.95 crore to municipalities for road repairs and facilities until 2023-24.
Guru Purnima Visit by CM Bhupendra Patel:
CM Bhupendra Patel visited Guru Ashram in Bagdana, Bhavnagar district, on Guru Purnima. Devotees warmly welcomed him with chants of ‘Bapa Sitaram.’
Patel worshipped with children at Santshri Bajrangdas Bapa’s throne, visited Bajrangdas Bapa’s tomb, and later offered prayers at both the Dhyan and Main Temple.
