In a concerning incident in Amreli, Gujarat, a doctor has been booked for brandishing a licensed pistol during a candlelight vigil held to protest the rape and murder of a fellow doctor in Kolkata. Medical professionals and students organized the event on Friday night at Rajkamal Chowk.

Details of the Gujarat Doctor Pistol Incident:

Dr. GJ Gajera, a private practitioner, reportedly displayed the weapon while addressing the assembled crowd of doctors and medical students. According to the police, this act was intended to create fear among the participants. The incident occurred around 9:30 PM, just before the vigil was set to begin.

Legal Action Taken:

Deputy Superintendent of Police Chirag Desai confirmed that legal action had been initiated against Dr. Gajera. The doctor has been charged under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The section 353(1)(b) for public mischief and section 270 for public nuisance. Additionally, charges have been filed under the Arms Act and the Gujarat Police Act.

Violation of Firearms Regulations by Dr. GJ Gajera:

Dr. Gajera’s actions were also found to be in violation of a district magistrate’s notification regarding the handling of licensed firearms, further complicating the legal consequences he now faces.
