Here are some changes to the UAE residency visas

Key takeaways:

  • UAE residency visas reforms have simplified procedures, expanded the Golden Visa scheme and created a new five-year residency titled Green Visas.

Ever since the most significant entry and UAE residency visas reforms were enacted in October 2022, some changes have come into effect.

These reforms have facilitated procedures, raised the long-term Golden Visa scheme, and presented a new five-year residency named Green Visas.

UAE residency visas have come up with some changes:

Numerous other changes have been enforced recently, including increased costs for visa services and extended grace times to exit the nation after visa expiry. Here, we round up seven residency-related differences you need to know:

Visa fees increase: The costs to avail of all services presented by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) have risen by Dh100. The extra intelligent services fee also involves Emirates ID and residency visas.

Validity of free zone visas decreased: The reality of free zone visas given in the UAE has decreased from three years to two.

Laws to sponsor children eased: This move came as a massive relief for families. Relevant to all residency types, citizens can support sons till they turn 25 — up from 18 years. There is no age limitation to sponsor unmarried daughters.

Golden Visa holders can support parents on a 10-year visa: If you have a Golden Visa, you can also help your parents on the 10-year visa. Yet, the long-term residency scheme heirs could sponsor parents for one year, as with regular residence holders.

Longer grace years to exit UAE after visa expiry: In most cases, the grace period to exit the UAE after residency visa revocation has been raised to between 60 and 180 days. This is up from the last 30 days.
