Despite a Covid resurgence and the latest staff upheaval, the biggest iPhone manufacturing facility in the world has arrived at about 90% of its anticipated peak capacity, showing that Foxconn Technology Group, Apple Inc.’s main supplier, has enough workers.

Vic Wang, a senior executive at Foxconn, the company’s plant in Zhengzhou, in central China, now employs about 200,000 people. Based on prior reports, that represents the typical staffing level.

According to the representative, the plant was shipping at 90% of the peak capacity on December 30, anticipated at the start of the previous year.

Beijing’s abrupt separation of the majority of Covid Zero-era curbs had dimmed the outlook for manufacturers like Foxconn, which depend on armies of workers to keep production plants running smoothly. This Covid uprising had spread across the country.

The recent outbreak followed weeks of unrest at the expensive iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max devices’ main manufacturer, the Zhengzhou-based iPhone City factory. In November, a nationwide movement against extreme Covid curbs saw thousands of workers flee or stage protests.

Last month, Foxconn lifted most of these restrictions and increased incentives for new hires and current employees.

That unprecedented disruption sparked concerns about the production of the iPhone during the crucial holiday season. According to Bloomberg News, Apple once faced a production loss of nearly 6 million iPhones due to that disruption.
