 Credit for this look should go-to makeup and prosthetic artist Prashant Doiphode. Prashant regrets that the makeup artist does not get proper credit. However, there is so much talk of Lara’s transformation that the situation is expected to change.

This was a challenge for Prashant when he first found out that Lara was playing the role of Indira Gandhi in the film. It took Lara 35 days to create the Indira Gandhi look. Prashant showed all the process of preparing this look step by step.

The first the thing to compare and makeover 3D casting Lara was her and Indira Gandhi’s look. Then 3D casting was done at Lara’s house. 3D casting is the first step in creating a prosthetic look for anyone. The prosthetic is to be done, the face is meticulously measured, and the prosthetic is prepared accordingly.

Two trials took place, a team of three people worked.

Two trials were done before Lara was shooting. Once there was a complete look trial, in which most of the look was achieved. However, it could still be done well, and that is why another trial was taken, and it was approved.

Along with Prashant, Jagdish Dada and Praveen were in the whole process. Jagdish Dada is supervising, and Praveen is attending the set. Achieving this type of makeup requires the full dedication of the actor. Lara cooperated fully.

Continuity is a challenge.

Maintaining continuity in this type of makeup is a challenge for a makeup artist. 3 hours in Lara’s makeup. It took an hour and a half to remove the makeup after the shooting was over.

 It’s not easy to give a shot with this makeup like a prosthetic nose was applied, so you don’t have to touch it if you sweat or itch. She has to sit with makeup all day.

Prosthetic goods came from abroad.

All the prosthetic and McMahon’s goods came from America and England. Latex or latex foam is used first for prosthetics. Now materials like silicone or gelatin are also used. Prashant prepared the entire prosthetic in his workshop.

The makeup previously had a stick pancake. Then cream base, liquid base and now alcohol base are used. In addition to brushes, special makeup sprays are sometimes used.

Stocked up all the material due to the lockdown. The

film was shot in the first wave of Covid. Corona’s protocol in makeup was hard to follow. All makeup materials and makeup vans were sanitized. Due to the lockdown, advanced stock of all materials and other pieces was kept.

Makeup is discussed, not makeup artist.

Prashant said that in an unreleased film ‘Meridian’, Arjun Rampal was made an old man with the help of prosthetics, and even his family could not recognize him. An artificial belly was made for Vidya Balan in ‘Kahani’, and the most special thing was that in the climax of the film, Vidya was shown removing this belly.

In addition to the film, prosthetics are also used in promotions. For example, prosthetic cartoon characters were created to promote Ajay Devgn and Kajol’s film ‘Toonpur Ka Superhero’.
