IBA and HAI join forces to advance Bio-Based energy solutions

New Delhi, Apr 21 Indian Biogas Association (IBA) has collaborated with Hydrogen Association of India (HAI) to boost bio-based energy solutions.

The Indian Biogas Association (IBA) has forged a partnership with the Hydrogen Association of India (HAI) to champion bio-based energy solutions, with a particular emphasis on green and blue hydrogen.

According to IBA Chairman Gaurav Kedia, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two entities aims to promote the production of green energy within the nation.

Strategic Alliance for Sustainable Energy

This strategic alliance between IBA and HAI will encompass a range of initiatives, including training, capacity building, and policy advocacy, all geared towards accelerating the promotion and development of bio-based energy solutions, especially focusing on green and blue hydrogen.

Kedia highlighted that the green hydrogen market in India is projected to reach USD 8 billion by 2030 and a staggering USD 340 billion by 2050.

Reducing Reliance on Imported Energy

With a shared goal of reducing India’s dependence on imported energy sources, the MoU signifies a commitment to collaborative efforts in advancing sustainable energy initiatives.

The agreement seeks to leverage synergies between the two associations to further bolster the growth of the bio-based energy sector.

Driving Innovation in Blue Hydrogen

The partnership is expected to drive innovation in the realm of blue hydrogen, with projections indicating a significant increase in production to 80 million metric tons by 2050.

Kedia emphasized the importance of leveraging biogas to simultaneously produce carbon and hydrogen, offering a viable solution to address industry requirements while reducing carbon emissions.

Policy Advocacy and Industry Empowerment

HAI President RK Malhotra underscored the significance of policy advocacy for the bio-hydrogen and biogas ecosystem.

The collaborative approach aims to harness government initiatives and empower the industry to achieve India’s green energy goals, thereby supporting the nation’s sustainable growth trajectory.
