India becomes the 7th most affected COVID-19 country, total cases at 190,535.

India witnesses its highest single-day spike in Coronavirus infections as 8,392 new cases were registered with the death toll at 5394.

On Sunday, India zoomed past 1.9 lakh cases as it became the seventh worst-hit COVID-19 nation. It overtook Peru and Germany (previously) 8 and 7 positions respectively, after registering a consecutive highest single-day spike at 8392 fresh Coronavirus infections. The death toll due to the fatal disease stood at 5394 as per the Union Health Ministry data. However, the recovery rate in India rose to 48.19 percent, which is a massive positive sign. 

Maharashtra still the worst affected state with 67,655 cases:

Maharashtra’s COVID-19 tally rose to 67,655 cases as 93 more Maharashtra Police personnel tested positive. Maharashtra from today has given some relaxations after launching “Mission Begin Again” campaign to restart the economy in the state. Tamil Nadu is the second worst-hit state at 22,333 Coronavirus cases. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat alone contribute to close to 70 percent of India’s total cases. 

Delhi to seal its borders for a week:

Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal on Monday afternoon said that Delhi will seal its borders to prevent a further surge in the total cases. Only essential service providers and those holding government-approved e-passes will be permitted to cross the border. This decision comes after Delhi witnessed 1000 plus cases on consecutive 4th day.

Railways re-open:

Indian Railways have resumed its operations in full swing as 200 normal passenger trains will function from 1st June. 

Global COVID-19 cases’ tally rose to 6.15 million with more than 372,000 deaths.
