The total Coronavirus tally is up to 697,887, with
the death toll in India reaching 19,684.
On late Sunday night, India became the third-worst affected COVID-19 country in the world as it overtook Russia’s tally. India’s cases witnessed the biggest
single-day spike with 24,912 fresh infections, taking the country’s coronavirus tally to 697,887. For a tenth consecutive day, daily
cases in the country have been above the 18,000-mark, which has added fuel to
the nation’s rapid Coronavirus numbers, which overtook Russia’s tally of
681,251 cases as per the Worldometers website. Now, only the US and Brazil have more cases than India. In just six days,
more than 1 lakh new cases have been registered in the country.
2300 deaths in the last 5 days:
India’s death toll has witnessed a strong spike in the last week, with 2300 deaths in the first five days of July. A total of 421 new deaths were reported in the country which meant that the deaths in the country stood at 19,684, as per the Union Ministry’s data. However, the recovery rate maintained its limited growth at 60.85 percent. A total of 424,433 patients have recovered from the highly contagious virus, and the active number of cases rose to 253,770.
COVID-19 caseload in Assam

Assam has
witnessed a big surge in the number of cases In recent weeks, and the tally of
state has crossed the 11,000-mark. The state has aimed at aggressive tests to
combat the deadly virus. However, Maharashtra remained the worst affected state with new 6555
infections on Sunday. This takes the state’s tally to 206,619. Maharashtra
