With 19,148 cases on a single-day, India witnessed one lakh new cases in the last 5 days, death toll at 17,834.

On Thursday, India’s COVID-19 tally breached the 6-lakh-mark, as it reported 19,148 new infections in the last 24 hours. This takes the country’s Coronavirus tally to 604,641 cases and the death toll at 17,834, as per data provided by the Union Health Ministry. It took only 5 days for India to reach from 5 lakh cases to 6 lakh cases, meaning that the nation registered over one lakh new cases in the past 5 days. However, 359,859 patients have recovered from this fatal virus, and the active number of total coronavirus positive patients is 226,947, which means the recovery rate has improved to 59.51 percent.

Delhi tally over 89,000 COVID-19 infections:

Delhi remains the worst affected city of India after it recorded 2442 fresh COVID-19 cases, in the last 24 hours, which took the tally past 890000-mark and death toll in the national capital stands at 2803.

7 out of 9 corporations in MMR under 10-day lockdown:

The entire district of Thane consisting of six municipal corporations and Panvel City Municipal Corporation declared a 10-day lockdown. The entire Mumbai Metropolitan Region will shut down barring the municipal corporations of Mumbai and Vasai-Virar. The lockdown will set in from Friday midnight and comes due to a sharp surge in the number of cases in those municipal corporations. Some essential areas will be permitted to function and even Vasai-Virar has listed 18 areas that will go under complete lockdown. Essential goods & services have been permitted to operate.

Globally, more than 10.7 million people have been infected by the coronavirus, and over 5.15 lakh people have died due to the fatal virus.
