On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Kerala’s 1st Vande Bharat Express train in the state capital Thiruvananthapuram, as well as the country’s first water metro in Kochi.
Vande Bharat, a semi-high-speed railway running from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod, will cover the journey in under eight hours, normally taking 12-13 hours.
The train will pass through districts like Thrissur, Palakkad, Pathanamthitta, Malappuram, Kollam, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, and Kannur on its way.
Modi is all set to arrive at Thiruvananthapuram Railway Station at approximately 10.30 a.m. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier expressed his “eagerness” to be a portion of the programme, tweeting, “I am eager to be among the people of Thiruvananthapuram on the 25th.”
The first Vande Bharat Express will be launched between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasargod in Kerala. Kerala’s 11 districts would be covered. It will have a significant impact on tourism and commerce.”
Modi will also lay the groundwork for other projects, including the nation’s 1st Water Metro in Kerala. The Kochi water metro will connect ten islands within and surrounding the metropolis.
The initiative, backed by the Kerala government and the German corporation KFW, will be a game changer for the state.
“We use the most progressive Lithium Titanite Spinel batteries in water metro.” It is the first time in a public sector that such a big number of electric hybrid boats function as a fleet under one command,” said Sajan P John, general manager (operations) of the Kerala Water Metro Limited.
Modi will also dedicate rail electrification of the Dindigul-Palani-Palakkad stretch and the Kochi Water Metro.
He will also lay the groundwork for several rail projects, such as the redevelopment of Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, as well as Varkala Sivagiri railway stations;
Comprehensive development of the Thiruvananthapuram area, such as Nemon and Kochuveli, and an increase in the sectional speed of the Thiruvananthapuram-Shoranur section.
