The statement comes after co-founder NR Narayana Murthy’s son-in-law, UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak, accused the British media of profiting from Vladimir Putin’s regime.

Infosys has a small team of fewer than 100 people in Russia that only serves global clients and does not have “any active business relationships” with any local enterprises. The company also announced a $1 million donation to aid efforts for Ukrainian war victims.

“Infosys has a small team depend in Russia that serves some of our global clients on a local level. However, we do not have any active business relationships with Russian companies in the area.

The statement from the Bengaluru-based company comes after co-founder NR Narayana Murthy’s son-in-law, UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak. He has accused by the British media of profiting from Russian President Vladimir Putin’s regime. Sunak is married to Akshata Murthy, Murthy’s daughter.

Sunak had issued a statement requesting that UK-based companies refrain from making new investments in Russia.

“I applaud the commitments already made by several companies to divest from Russian assets. And I want to be obvious that the government supports additional signals of intent.”

Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine began on February 24 of this year. Several companies worldwide have announced that they will either temporarily restrict or cease providing services to Russia and its citizens. On the other hand, countries have imposed economic sanctions and seized assets belonging to Russian companies and people in business.
