IPL 2020: Kevin Pietersen calls his choice on Sanju Samson and Rishabh Pant for next wicketkeeper in India.

India’s next game may still be near to two months apart. Still, with the complimentary performances of KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, and Rishabh Pant, the debate about who should pick over as the wicketkeeper-batsman after retirement MS Dhoni has only gathered steam.

After iconic West Indies batsman, Brian Lara batted in favour of Rishabh Pant, calling him the ‘No.1 pick’ after Dhoni, retired England captain Kevin Pietersen shared his opinion on who would be the wicketkeeper of India for limited-overs cricket between Rahul, Samson, and Pant.

I see entirely different things when I see Sanju Samson. The dedication, the contribution he made to the IPL this year, amazed me,’ Pietersen said on Star Sports.

There’s nothing between Pant and Samson to choose from based on their present IPL numbers. Both scored 176 runs in six IPL matches, but Pietersen clarified why he believes Samson is ahead of Pant.

Actually, for me, that got him ahead of Rishabh Pant, only purely from the diet base, the fitness base, and the dedication. He said, ‘I want to go out and do everything I can to make India play cricket. It has run after runs. A few times, he failed. But to get into international cricket, the commitment is what you need, “said Pietersen.

Pietersen said that Pant is one who requires consistency and disappoints as often as not and that Pant’s batting has not yet seen some noticeable change.

“Rishabh Pant is a disappointing guy. And he’s someone from whom I hope so much. And, I have yet to see him consistently performing day in and day out with the bat, ” he added.

It would be best if you had some consistency to get the Indian name, and to play international cricket. You’ve got to do healthier. I’m seeing the same player I saw a year ago, and a year ago, and a year earlier. He was erratic as long as he was playing, “he said.
