Jason Sanjay Reacts to TVK Chants at Sigma Event

Jason Sanjay, son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay, found himself in an unplanned political moment during the pre-release event of his directorial debut Sigma, held in Salem on Tuesday. The heist action-comedy, starring Sundeep Kishan and Faria Abdullah, marks Jason’s first outing as a filmmaker, and the event drew a large, enthusiastic crowd of fans and well-wishers from the film industry.

A Speech Turns Into a Political Moment

While addressing the audience, Jason thanked the cast, crew and his family for their support, saying, “Salem has given me positive memories, so thank you, Salem. A special thanks to my family.” As the applause grew louder, the crowd suddenly broke into chants of “TVK,” referencing Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, the political party led by his father. Jason paused, smiled and nodded, letting the chants continue before acknowledging the crowd with a thumbs-up and resuming his speech.

Rumours of a Family Rift

The chants come amid ongoing speculation about tension between Jason and his father, fuelled by reports of the two unfollowing each other on Instagram and Jason reportedly dropping the initial “V” from his name. Neither Vijay nor Jason has publicly addressed these rumours. Notably, at the same event, actor Sundeep Kishan called Vijay “the identity of our film and our biggest inspiration,” a sentiment Jason appeared to welcome with a smile, suggesting the reported rift, if any, has not affected the film’s promotions.

Sigma, described by Jason as the story of a “lone wolf” navigating treasure hunts, heists and comic mishaps, is set for release soon, with anticipation building around both its content and the star-kid’s directorial debut.
