Actor Rahul Roy, best known for “Aashiqui,” has spoken candidly about the financial and professional difficulties he has faced since suffering a brain stroke in 2020. The setback kept him away from consistent acting work for years and pushed him to take up alternative sources of income, including dance performances at weddings.

Struggling to Find Work After the Stroke

In a conversation with the Times of India, Rahul shared that rebuilding his career after the health scare was far from easy. He explained that it has been five years since his 2020 stroke, and he has been doing whatever he could to keep things going during that period. With ongoing expenses and responsibilities, he said he simply cannot afford to stay idle, regardless of the nature of the work available to him.

Addressing the Trolling Over Wedding Performances

Rahul also responded to criticism he has faced after clips of him dancing at wedding functions went viral online. He pointed out that people who mock him for these appearances often fail to understand the effort involved or the reasons behind them. According to him, such performances can be lucrative, sometimes earning him between Rs 2 lakh and Rs 4 lakh a night, and he stressed that this is legitimate, hard-earned income rather than something to be ridiculed.

The actor’s remarks shed light on the harsh realities many film industry professionals face after health crises, especially when steady acting offers dry up. Despite the criticism, Rahul appears focused on providing for himself and meeting his financial obligations, even if that means stepping outside conventional film work to do so.
