Jasprit Bumrah has etched his name into the record books, becoming the first bowler in the world to claim at least 50 wickets in each of the three international formats — Tests, ODIs, and T20Is — while playing on Indian soil. The milestone was completed on September 15, during India’s second T20I against Afghanistan in Delhi, where Bumrah picked up one wicket for 25 runs in his four-over spell.

A Remarkable All-Format Tally

The 32-year-old pacer from Ahmedabad now holds 50 T20I wickets in India across 45 matches, 62 Test wickets in just 16 matches, and 64 ODI wickets in 41 matches. This blend of volume and efficiency across formats highlights Bumrah’s consistency as one of the sport’s most versatile fast bowlers, adapting his skill set seamlessly whether bowling long spells in whites or compact overs in the shortest format.

Where He Stands Among T20I Greats

In the T20I format specifically, Bumrah becomes only the third Indian — and the fourth bowler overall — to reach the 50-wicket mark on home turf. He still trails the format’s home leaders: Axar Patel currently tops the chart with 57 T20I wickets in India, followed by Arshdeep Singh with 55 and Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan with 53.

Bumrah’s achievement underscores his growing legacy as a complete bowler, one capable of dominating across formats rather than specializing in just one. With India’s packed home season ahead, he may well extend his tallies further, potentially closing the gap with the current T20I leaders while continuing to add to his Test and ODI numbers on familiar pitches.
