Joe Biden plans to invite Shri Narendra Modi for a State Dinner

Joe Biden is even expected to see Narendra Modi in Australia in May when they call for the Quad meeting along with the leaders of Australia and Japan.

US President Joe Biden intends to have Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a state dinner this year, people familiar with the topic said.

Joe Biden to host Narendra Modi for dinner: 

The formal state trip is a sign of the deepening US-India relationship as the government advances approaches and initiatives for a free and open Indo-Pacific to oppose what it sees as a growing danger posed by China.

The White House seeks for the state dinner to take place in June, but the plan could vary, the people familiar revealed. A representative for the National Security Council refused to comment.

India is organising the Group of 20 leaders meeting in New Delhi in September, where Russia’s attack on Ukraine will be among the top discussion topics. Whether Russian President Vladimir Putin will be at the gathering is vague.

Biden is even expected to see Modi in Australia in May when they assemble for the Quad meeting along with the leaders of Australia and Japan.

The dinner with India’s PM will be Biden’s third formal state trip and dinner, following one he organised for French President Emmanuel Macron in December and one for South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol planned for April 26.
