US President Joe Biden will start a four-day visit to Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland in Belfast on 11 April, the White House has announced.

President Joe Biden will start his visit in Belfast to honour the 25th Anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement. He will even hold various meetings in Dublin, County Louth, and County Mayo.

The President is even expected to meet Irish President Michael D Higgins.

In a remark, the White House media said the President would go to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland from April 11-14, adding that the visit would celebrate “the remarkable improvement since the signing of the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement 25 years back.”

Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister) Leo Varadkar said he was “delighted” that President Biden would visit Ireland.

“When we talked recently in the White House, President Biden was precise that in marking the Good Friday Agreement, we should be looking forward, not backwards,” he said.

He stated that the involvement of the United States and President Biden had been “important to the peace process in Ireland.”

“From its earliest unsure starts to the making of the Good Friday Agreement, in good days and bad, the US has ever been at our side,” stated Mr Varadkar.
