According to persons acquainted with the situation, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge is set to unveil the name of the next Karnataka CM on Wednesday in Bengaluru.

The revelation emerged after Kharge met former Karnataka president Minister Siddaramaiah and state unit president DK Shivakumar separately at his residence in New Delhi to discuss government formation processes in the southern state.

Kharge will make the final choice after speaking with UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi as well as former party president Rahul Gandhi.

“No final decision has yet been made on the Karnataka CM post.” The President of Congress has met with all of the stakeholders. The Congress President has met with all stakeholders.

He will now make the ultimate choice in collaboration with Rahul and Sonia Gandhi. “The announcement can be delayed until tomorrow, and it can be made in Bengaluru,” ANI quoted sources as saying.

The hunt for the next chief minister continues, with both frontrunners, Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar, thought to have dug their heels in.

Regardless of the party’s decision, Shivakumar said he would not resort to “backstabbing or blackmail.”

“If the party desires, they may delegate the duty to me…We are a united home, and our number is 135. I don’t want to split anyone in this room. Whether they like me or they not, I am a man of responsibility. “I will not backstab or blackmail,” he vowed.

“The party is my god…” We built this party, I am a part of it, and also I am not alone in this,” he remarked before leaving Bengaluru.

Shivakumar later warned the media against speculative stories about his likely departure and stated that he would bring a defamation suit against news outlets for spreading false information.

“If any media outlet reports that I am leaving from my position, I will initiate a defamation suit against them…Some are claiming that I will resign…My mother is my party, and I created it. “My high command, MLAs, and my party are all present,” he told reporters.

When asked about his aspirations as state party president, Shivakumar responded, “I don’t want to comment on what has happened previously.” How it happened.

That is a shut chapter; we formed the government, lost the government, and lost a coalition government. It is pointless to discuss who is now accountable for the victory and defeat. Let us not sell this story; instead, let us sell the future.”

The Congress won around 135 seats in the 224-member Karnataka assembly election.
