Kullu landslide: watch the scary video of Buildings collapse

Several houses in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district collapsed like a pack of cards on Thursday morning due to a rain-caused landslide.

The terrifying episode was captured on video, and while the amount of the damage has yet to be determined, there has been no indication of life loss, as the buildings were evacuated a few days ago.

The severe landslip occurred in a market area of Anni, a town in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district, 76 km from the district headquarters in Kullu.

CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on the issue:

Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said the administration noticed the risk and evacuated the commercial building two days ago. However, multiple houses can be seen crumbling in the pictures.

As seen in the video, at least eight to nine large buildings collapsed near a bus stop in Anni town. According to preliminary indications, two banks were housed in one of the buildings that fell in Thursday’s landslip.

“Disturbing images emerge from Anni, Kullu, showing a massive commercial building collapsing amid a devastating landslip.”

It is worth noting that the government noticed the risk and successfully evacuated the building two days ago, said CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu in a tweet.

The massive Kullu landslide:

In recent weeks, Himachal Pradesh has been pummelling by heavy rain, cloudbursts, and landslides.

On Thursday, a new landslide struck Anni in Himachal Pradesh’s Kullu district, causing numerous buildings to collapse.

The Kullu-Mandi Highway has been destroyed, cutting both ways and leaving several vehicles stuck.

Shimla, another Himachal rain-affected city, had 190 mm of rain in the last 24 hours.

Red alert issued by IMD in Himachal Pradesh:

Rain continues in Himachal Pradesh, with the IMD issuing a red alert across the state for the next two days.

In Himachal Pradesh this year, 2,022 dwellings have been destroyed, and 9,615 houses have been partially destroyed. Also 113 landslides occurring during the monsoon season.

Over 100 things have collapsed in Shimla, the queen of the hills, as the state confronts the largest natural disaster in its history. This monsoon washed out an old Shiv Temple in Shimla’s famed Summer Hill neighbourhood.
