Mohammad Yousuf Sparks Outrage Over Suryakumar Yadav Comments

Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Yousuf has sparked widespread outrage after making derogatory remarks about Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav during a television discussion about the recent Asia Cup 2025 handshake controversy. The incident occurred following India’s seven-wicket victory over Pakistan in Dubai, where Indian players refused to shake hands with their counterparts.

Heated TV Discussion Turns Ugly

During a heated discussion on Samaa TV, Yousuf repeatedly used offensive language while criticizing Suryakumar Yadav’s no-handshake gesture. Despite the anchor’s attempts to correct him, the former batsman, who scored over 17,000 international runs, continued his verbal assault. “India are unable to get out of their filmy world. India should be ashamed of the way they are trying to win,” Yousuf stated before launching into his controversial tirade.

The comments have drawn severe criticism from cricket fans and social media users across both nations. Many have condemned Yousuf’s unprofessional conduct, calling it unbecoming of a former international player who represented Pakistan in 288 ODIs, 90 Tests, and 3 T20Is between 1998 and 2010.

Damage Control Attempt Falls Short

Following the intense backlash, Yousuf attempted to justify his remarks by referencing past incidents. He claimed his comments were in response to Indian media praising Irfan Pathan’s previous “barking like a dog” remark about Shahid Afridi. However, this explanation has failed to quell the controversy.

The Pakistan Cricket Board now faces additional pressure as they had already lodged complaints against match officials and threatened tournament withdrawal. With Pakistan needing to defeat the UAE to advance to the Super Four stage, the controversy adds unwanted distraction to their campaign.
