On Thursday, Serum Institute of India (SII) leader Adar Poonawalla announced economic assistance of ₹10 crores to Indian students visiting the UK.

“Dear college students are travelling overseas, as some countries are, but to approve COVISHIELD as an acceptable vaccine for a tour without quarantine, you may incur some expenses.

 I even have set aside Rs.10 crores for this, observe underneath for monetary support if wished,” Poonawalla said in a tweet.

The initiative has been launched through a television channel, of which Poonawalla is a part, and college students should follow for the economic aid.

“I continue to be completely committed to supporting Indian college students quarantine within the United Kingdom on arrival for their better research.

 However, the new Amber List regulations make it clear that Indian students will nevertheless want to quarantine, albeit at a place of their deciding on. They may, therefore, still incur considerable costs,” Poonawalla stated while speakme about the initiative.

Meanwhile, the UK moved India from its ‘pink’ to ‘amber’ list, which means that vaccinated passengers from India will not be subjected to obligatory 10-day hotel quarantine. 

The exchange, introduced via the Department for Transport, comes into effect from 4 am nearby on Sunday.
