Mumbai Rain: IMD has issued red alerts in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra.

Due to the extensive rainfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has extended its ‘red alert’ in Mumbai until 8:30 am on Friday. On Wednesday, the first warning was issued.

The city is expected to receive ‘very heavy’ rainfall in a few spots through Friday, while the intensity of the showers is expected to decrease today. According to officials, continuous showers are forecast over the next two days, with a dry period unlikely before the first week of August.

South Mumbai experienced especially heavy precipitation throughout the day until 8.30 am. Colaba received 223.2mm of rain, while Santacruz in the suburbs received 145.1mm. This is much higher than the prior day’s 23mm and 29mm measurements, respectively.

Mumbai Rain effects on the areas:

Bandra received 106mm of rain, Dahisar 70.5mm, Ram Mandir 161mm, Chembur 86.5mm, Byculla 119mm, CSMT 153.5mm, Matunga 78.5mm, and Sion received 112mm.

Due to the rain, schools in the city have been ordered to close. Waterlogging was also recorded on the posh Maharshi Karve Road in South Mumbai, between Churchgate station and Charni Road East.

Accidents due to irresponsibility:

Although no serious accidents had been recorded as of 1 pm on Thursday, there is an elevated risk of interruption in traffic, local train, and bus services.

However, a 19-year-old youth drowned under a waterfall in Pankhanda hamlet on Ghodbunder Road in Sanjay Gandhi National Park due to a rain-related accident. Rescue workers recovered the body.
