The Private Schools Association of Karnataka has stated that the state’s private schools are facing a serious financial crisis, with some of them on the verge of shutting down because of parents’ non-payment of fees.

President Shashi Kumar to ANI:

Speaking to ANI, President Shashi Kumar of the Associations claimed, “Teachers give their best for online classes, but we can not pay them a minimum salary.”

“There’s no government funding. More than 60 per cent of parents with their kids in budget schools have not charged their kids’ fees. There are more than 20,000 schools in the state, and about 18,000 of those are private budget schools that rely on the monthly fee, he stated.

The state’s private schools are closed until December. According to the advice of the technical advisory committee, the government made a decision a few days ago.

Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa stated: 

The experts were of the opinion that we could not make any decisions until the end of December. We will discuss again and with regard to the situation, take an appropriate decision at that time. 

Until then we should not start SSLC (Class 10) and PUC,’ Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa said.

In Karnataka on Tuesday, as many as 1,330 new Covid-19 cases were registered, raising the state’s total to 8,86,227.

As the State Department of Health and Family Welfare declared:

Fourteen deaths due to the latest coronavirus were confirmed by the State Department of Health and Family Welfare, and 886 patients recovered from the virus on the same day.

Although 8,50,707 individuals have recovered from the outbreak, 11,792 have lost their lives here so far due to the deadly virus.

As of Tuesday, the state had registered 23,709 active coronavirus cases, its health department said.

Last week, Dr K Sudhakar, Minister of Health and Medical Education of Karnataka, stated that the state had launched necessary steps for the supply, distribution as well as administration of Covid-19 vaccine as advised by the Government of India.
