OneWeb signs The 1st launch with New Space India is scheduled for 2022 from Sriharikota’s Satish Dhawan Space Centre SHAR.

An Indo-UK joint venture satellite transmissions company, announced on Thursday (April 21) that it would launch its satellites using ISRO rockets.

According to the company, the agreement will aid in completing OneWeb’s satellite launch program.

The first launch from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota, is scheduled for 2022. The takeoffs will add to OneWeb’s total in-orbit constellation of 428 satellites. Accounting for 66% of the entire fleet planned to build a global network with high-speed, low-latency connectivity.

This most recent agreement on takeoffs plans adds significant momentum to the development of OneWeb’s network. We collaborate across the Space industry toward our shared goal of connecting communities worldwide. Sunil Bharti Mittal, Executive Chairman of OneWeb, stated.

This launch contract follows a separate agreement announced in March 2022 between OneWeb also SpaceX to allow the company to resume satellite launches.

The number of satellites that OneWeb would launch into orbit using ISRO rockets is not specified in the statement.

Experts in the space sector previously told IANS that economic sanctions imposed by the United States and Europe on Russia. Due to its conflict with Ukraine might create economic opportunities for the Indian space sector preferably than burden it with economic costs.

They also suggested that India should increase its satellite launch capabilities. Also announce productivity-linked incentive (PLI) schemes for the aerospace sector to capitalize on the opportunities.
