He highlighted Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s recognition of India’s strengths, viewing the country as a lucrative market and a strategic base for serving global markets.

Reflecting on Tesla’s success in China, Minister Goyal emphasized the company’s pivotal role in driving the growth of the country’s electric mobility ecosystem. 

He pointed out Tesla’s effective partnerships and collaborations with local companies, which significantly boosted the adoption of electric vehicles in China.

Confidence in PM Modi’s Leadership, says Piyush Goyal:

Minister Goyal noted that companies like Tesla are increasingly drawn to India due to their confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the country’s emergence as a leader in electric mobility. 

He highlighted the global recognition India has garnered in this sector.

Location of Tesla’s Potential Plant in India:

Addressing speculation about the location of Tesla’s potential manufacturing plant in India, Minister Goyal responded, “We speak for India; we are citizens of India.” 

This suggests a broad consideration of various regions within the country for Tesla’s operations.

Elon Musk’s Visit to India

Elon Musk confirmed his visit to India on April 21 and 22, during which he is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Modi. 

During his visit, Musk is anticipated to make major announcements, including the launch of the Starlink service and plans to invest between $2 billion and $3 billion.
