The historic gathering featured traditional prayers, hymns, and carols, creating a solemn and uplifting atmosphere within the cathedral’s sacred walls.

Message of Love and Harmony

Following the service, PM Modi reflected on the occasion through a post on X, emphasizing the deeper meaning of Christmas. “The service reflected the timeless message of love, peace and compassion. May the spirit of Christmas inspire harmony and goodwill in our society,” he stated. His remarks reinforced the universal values associated with Jesus Christ’s teachings and their significance in fostering social harmony, compassion, and mutual respect among citizens.

During the proceedings, Rt. Rev. Dr Paul Swarup, the Bishop of Delhi, offered a special prayer for the Prime Minister, highlighting the spiritual importance of the occasion. The gathering brought together members of the Christian community in a moment of shared devotion and celebration.

Symbol of Inclusiveness and Diversity

The Prime Minister’s presence at the service symbolized inclusiveness and respect for India’s diverse religious traditions, particularly during one of Christianity’s most significant festivals.
