On Friday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant wishes the people of Goa a special day. “I express my best wishes to the citizens of Goa on this propitious day of Goa Liberation Day. It is also a remarkable day in the history of Goa, as the state gained independence from 450 years of Portuguese rule,’ stated Sawant in a video message.
Our freedom fighters have been fighting hard, sacrificing their lives to allow future generations of Goa to live in comfort and happiness. Since then, the state has undergone ups and downs. Socially, economically, but the chief minister had stated, he stood high, shining like a star, holding fast to his cultural heritage.
Let us work together to strengthen the state, as we celebrate the 60th year of its liberation. Let’s try to keep it clean as well as green, sustainable, and a place that loves peace. Happy day of Goa Liberation for all he said.
President to visit Panji:
On Saturday and Sunday, President Ram Nath Kovind will travel to Panaji to take part at the beginning of Goa’s Liberation Day festivals, Rashtrapati Bhavan stated in a statement released on Friday.
Goa Liberation Day is celebrated every year in India on December 19 and marks the day on which the Indian armed forces liberated Goa in 1961 after 450 years of Portuguese rule.
On Saturday evening, the state government arranged a special event in Panaji to celebrate the 60th Goa Liberation Day, which would be attended by President Ram Nath Kovind, who will begin a two-day visit to Goa on Saturday.
