On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pays tribute to the 50th anniversary of the 1971 National War Monument in New Delhi, which made Bangladesh an independent country. ‘Vijay Diwas’ is remembered as the day.

The Prime Minister lit up ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’:

The Prime Minister also lit up ‘Swarnim Vijay Mashaal’ – a sign of victory. There are four certain mashaals or lamps to be taken to different parts of the world, including the 1971 War Awardees of Param Vir Chakra as well as Mahavir Chakra villages.

To commemorate the golden jubilee of the 1971 India-Pakistan war, the entire year is being celebrated as ‘Swarnim Vijay Varsh.’ Pan-India will hold numerous commemorative events where war veterans, as well as Veer Naris, will be congratulated.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Secretary Amit Shah extended their wishes to fellow countrymen on the occasion of Vijay Diwas. The ministers praised the Indian Army’s bravery as well as courage.

 

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted:

Today, I salute the courage and bravery of our Indian Army in the event of Vijay Diwas. I recall the courage of our soldiers who in the 1971 war, wrote a new story of courage. A source of inspiration for all Indians is their sacrifices. The nation is still going to revere them,’ Singh said that on Twitter.

The Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted: 

The Home Minister stated that on this day, the Indian Army had made a historic improvement on the world map.

The Indian Army, with its indomitable bravery as well as courage, created a remarkable improvement on the world map on this day in 1971, defending the fundamental ideals of human liberty. This mark in history with golden letters will continue to make each Indian proud. Happy Vijay Diwas” tweeted Shah.

In December 1971, the Indian Armed Forces achieved a historic victory over the Pakistan Army, leading to the formation of Bangladesh and the largest military surrender following the Second World War.
