Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of connecting Bat Dwarka and Okha from the sea has been realized with the completion of the Dwarka signature bridge, set to be inaugurated on February 25.
Previously, visitors to Dwarka had to rely on ferry boats, but the bridge will now provide a more convenient and efficient mode of transportation.
Features of the Signature Bridge
The Dwarka signature bridge spans 2320 meters over the Dwarka sea, constructed at a cost of 900 crores.
With four lanes, it accommodates all types of vehicles, as well as provisions for pedestrians and cyclists. Notably, a verse has been engraved on the bridge, adding to its aesthetic appeal and significance.
Design and Infrastructure
The bridge is an architectural marvel, featuring a cable-stayed design with 900 meters dedicated to this unique construction style.
It connects Okha and Bat Dwarka, with a 2452-meter approach road facilitating seamless connectivity. The width of the bridge is 27.20 meters, including 2.50-meter footpaths on either side.
Aesthetic Touches and Amenities
The Dwarka signature bridge boasts artistic elements, including two pylons adorned with peacock feathers, symbolizing the region’s cultural heritage.
Additionally, there are 12 view galleries strategically located along the bridge, offering panoramic vistas of the sea, Bat Dwarka, and Okha.
The footpaths feature verses from the Gita in Hindi, English, and Gujarati, adding a spiritual dimension to the bridge’s ambiance.
Moreover, the installation of solar panels on the footpath’s upper portion will generate 1 MW of electricity, demonstrating a commitment to sustainability.
