Pros of regular Liver Function tests for better liver health.

Your liver health life cycle depends significantly on your lifestyle choices. Consuming processed food, smoking, and consuming alcohol have adverse influences on your liver.

As we all know, the liver is the primary and biggest organ in the body that has different responsibilities, such as screening toxins from the blood, regulating sugar levels, and producing protein for blood clotting. These are essential body functions, as you will succumb to diseases without them.

Apart from Alcohol, other elements can also harm your liver cells, suggesting the need to get frequent liver function tests. A liver function test analyses numerous enzymes, proteins, and bilirubin.

Lifestyle plays a vital role in Liver Health.

It’s not just Alcohol but several other lifestyle factors that could simulate your liver health. The most familiar are:

 1. Inactive Lifestyle

People who are bulky and inactive are prone to health issues. Laziness is a significant contributor to liver diseases. A daily workout routine can help your liver. You can rely on walking, cycling, aerobics, or swimming.

 2. Poor Diet

Eating processed, sugary, and refined carbohydrates can affect your liver’s functioning over time. Trimming down on these foods will help your liver to work better. Add more fruits, vegetables, protein-rich foods, and healthy carbs to your daily eating.

3. Smoking

Even small kid today knows smoking is harmful to your heart and lungs. Many don’t know that it can also severely damage your liver. The toxin present in tobacco triggers rash in your body, which can result in intense liver damage. Smoking also triggers cytokine production through chemicals that raise inflammation and damage to liver cells.

 4. Overweight:

Being overweight not only raises your risk of developing heart disease and stroke but also lowers your liver function. Excessive fat results in insulin resistance, which triggers the discharge of free fatty acids that can cause harm to the liver. Obesity can also lead to severe non-alcoholic liver disease, which then raises the risk of liver failure and cancer.

5. Soft Drinks:

Soft drinks have extreme sugar content in them. These carbonated drinks are known to have adverse effects on liver health, such as liver cancer and even death by chronic liver infection in older women. These drinks can be replaced by freshly made juices without sugar, coconut water, or a glass of buttermilk.

6. Consuming Alcohol

Each time your liver filters Alcohol, some of the liver cells die. The liver can make new cells, and prolonged consumption of Alcohol can harshly harm your liver. So abstain from drinking Alcohol and get frequent liver function tests.

7. Certain Medications

Overuse of pharmaceuticals that lower cholesterol, such as statins, and antipyretics, such as acetaminophen, can also lead to liver problems.

Remember, it is recommended to go for routine checkups to stay informed about your liver health. Taking liver function tests helps you recognize problems early so that they can be managed timely and do not become a cause for concern.

If your liver function tests show any deviant readings, your doctor will provide you with a remedy plan and may even request a fibro scan to define the rigor of the condition.
