Rahul Gandhi Accuses BJP of Stealing 25 Lakh Votes in Haryana

On Wednesday, Congress opposition leader Rahul Gandhi leveled serious allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party and Election Commission, claiming a coordinated effort to convert a Congress victory into a BJP win during the Haryana Assembly elections. Speaking at a press conference, Gandhi presented what he termed the “H Files,” detailing systematic electoral manipulation he said occurred at state and national levels.

Evidence of Electoral Irregularities

Gandhi claimed Congress had gathered substantial evidence of vote tampering, citing multiple complaints from party candidates about anomalies during vote counting. He alleged that 25 lakh votes were fraudulently manipulated in Haryana, comprising 5.21 lakh duplicate voters, 93,174 invalid voters, and 19.26 lakh bulk voters. Gandhi stated that one individual had been registered to vote in two separate booths with identical photographs, suggesting systematic voter fraud orchestrated as “Operation Sarkar Chori.”

Democratic Process Under Threat

Describing the situation as a watershed moment for Indian democracy, Gandhi warned that the nation’s youth and democratic institutions faced existential threats. He criticized the Election Commission for failing to remove duplicate voters despite possessing software to do so, alleging collusion between the Chief Election Commissioner and the ruling party. Gandhi pointed to contradictions in postal voting patterns, where Congress reportedly received 73 postal votes compared to BJP’s 17, starkly contrasting final election results. He emphasized that exit polls had universally predicted a Congress victory, making the final outcome highly suspicious and demanding immediate judicial intervention and electoral reform.
