Dharma Productions Bags Ramayana’s India Distribution Rights

Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash’s mythological epic Ramayana is back in the news, this time over its distribution plans within India. Following Warner Bros. Pictures’ entry as the film’s international distributor, reports now suggest that Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions has stepped in to handle the film’s release across Indian screens.

Deal Reportedly Struck At ₹250 Crore

Citing Variety India, industry reports state that Dharma Productions has closed the domestic distribution agreement for Nitesh Tiwari’s two-part project at a reported figure of ₹250 crore. The deal is said to have come together after producer Namit Malhotra arranged special screenings for several studios, presenting them with a curated 30-minute preview of the film. The footage reportedly showcased the scale of the production along with its visual effects work, which is said to have convinced Dharma to move ahead with the partnership.

A Star-Studded Two-Part Epic

Ramayana brings together Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana, in what is being billed as one of Indian cinema’s most ambitious undertakings. With Dharma Productions now expected to oversee the film’s domestic release and Warner Bros. managing its international run, the project appears to have secured strong backing on both fronts ahead of its launch.

The first part of the film is slated to release during Diwali 2026, with the second instalment set to follow a year later, during Diwali 2027. As anticipation builds, further details about the film’s marketing rollout and release strategy are expected to be announced in the coming months.
