Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor is facing online criticism after an old video from a Ganesh Chaturthi celebration resurfaced and began circulating widely on social media. The clip shows the actor attending the festivities at the Ambani residence in Mumbai alongside his wife, Alia Bhatt, where he can be seen seeking blessings before an idol of Lord Ganesha.

What Happened in the Video

In the footage, Kapoor is shown handing out modaks, the traditional sweet offering associated with the festival, to photographers gathered at the venue. However, when one of them offered him a portion of the prasad in return, the actor politely turned it down. He explained his decision by saying he was currently following a diet, telling the person to have the sweet instead.

Online Reaction Turns Critical

The moment, though brief, did not sit well with several social media users once the clip gained traction. Many commenters felt that turning down a small religious offering for the sake of dietary discipline was unnecessary, and reactions in the comments section ranged from lighthearted teasing to more pointed disapproval of his choice.

Despite the controversy, Kapoor’s professional calendar remains packed. He is set to appear as Lord Rama in director Nitesh Tiwari’s much-anticipated film “Ramayana,” scheduled for a worldwide release on November 6.
