Sudipto Sen directed, The Kerala Story, which earned Rs. 16 crores at the box office on the third day of its release. On Sunday, the film recorded a 42.60% increase in sales.

Since its May 5 premiere, The Kerala Story has amassed over 35 million views.

The trailer for the film was attacked for suggesting that 32,000 girls from Kerala went missing and ultimately joined the terrorist organisation ISIS.

The Kerala Story team removed the figure after receiving criticism. The film’s team described it as the narrative of three women from Kerala in its trailer description.

The Kerala Story, produced by Vipul Amrutlal Shah, opened in theatres after the Kerala High Court refused to halt the film’s release.

Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani play key parts in the film.

Taran Adarsh, a film expert, released a poster for the film on Twitter on Monday. Here’s the tweet.

The Kerala High Court recently refused to halt the film’s release. It was stated that the caravan contained nothing objectionable to any specific community.

According to the court, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) reviewed the film and determined it was eligible for public display.

Amid the controversy, Tamil Nadu theatres stopped showing The Kerala Story on May 7. M Subramaniam, President of the Tamil Nadu Theatre and Multiplex Owners Association, confirmed that the few theatres that screened the film had opted to pull it.

“The film was only shown in certain multiplexes owned by pan-India companies, primarily PVR.” Because the film lacked popular stars, local multiplexes opted not to screen it…Even those performed poorly.

Given that, theatres thought it was not worth the risk of protests and the like,” he continued, according to news agency ANI.
