Read what Kriti Sanon says about winning National Award

Kriti Sanon was at a meeting when it was announced that she had won the Best Actress award at the 69th National Film Awards. She was thrilled.

“I froze for a few seconds before sprinting to hug my father. I summoned my mother from wherever she was, and my sister Nupur also came. 

“It was an emotional moment I’ll never forget; my mother was dancing, everyone was hugging each other,” an emotional Sanon says.

Kriti Sanon won the National Award for Mimi:

The 33-year-old actress, who won the award for her role as a surrogate mother in Mimi, admits that the words ‘National Award’ give her shivers. She says, “Every form of validation means a lot as a Delhi girl who has done it without industry connections.” 

Coming from a non-filmmaking family, being a member of the industry was an important achievement. An opportunity like Mimi is extremely rare for any actor. 

The National Award is a big honour that every actor wishes for, but only a few get to experience. To be able to live it within a decade… I had written it in my diary in 2020 as a fantasy, but I didn’t expect it to materialise so soon! It is the highest form of endorsement, coming from the government.”

The award increased my Confidence:

A prize like this is likely to change everything. When asked how she feels it would affect her future choices and life, the actor responds, “I am not thinking about the impact it will have on my career.” 

I am grateful to have received this award; I am not concerned with the future or the influence it will have because it has already occurred! It gave me an enormous sense of gratitude I’d never felt before. 

I am not from this field or have any acting experience or training… I am a highly ambitious person who strives to do my best. 

I don’t think I’ve fully realised my potential because I always look for ways to grow. This renowned award boosts my Confidence immensely.”
