According to fire department officials, at least seven persons were killed, and several others were injured. As a blast at a fireworks factory in the Duttapukur area of West Bengal North 24 Parganas district on Sunday morning.

According to fire officials, the explosion was so powerful that it destroyed numerous nearby structures.

Locals about Bengal fireworks factory blast:

Locals told reporters the explosion happened about 10.40 a.m. inside a two-story house in the Nilgunj district of Duttapukar. A guy reported that the factory was unlawfully operating out of a house.

Rathin Ghosh, the state food minister and a member from the area, claimed police personnel told him seven or eight people were killed and six were injured.

“According to district police officials, seven or eight people died, and five to six people were injured.” I’ll go to the location. The building where the explosion occurred was packed with firecrackers. 

This is not a cracker-producing location. The main manufacturing base was in Nilgunj’s Narayanpur neighbourhood, which is far from here. “The police had shut down all the cracker units in Narayanpur,” Ghosh told the journalists.

Previous similar incident in Bengal:

Several similar occurrences have occurred in West Bengal recently.

An explosion at a fireworks factory in Egra, Midnapore district, killed nine people and injured seven others in May. At least two of the victims were female.

In another incident in May, at least three persons were killed in an explosion at an illegal firecracker factory. Incident took place at residential neighbourhood in the district of South 24 Parganas.

Last December, at least three persons were killed, and two more were injured at a fireworks factory in Mohanpur village, Nodakhali region, South 24 Parganas district.

A Committee by State Government:

Following several explosions, the state government has declared a new policy under which fireworks can only be constructed in industrial zones. The process of establishing these centres has begun.

On May 22, the West Bengal government formed a committee led by the state’s top secretary to investigate such illegal enterprises.
