Redmi Pad Pro 5G: A Viable Productivity-Focused Android Tablet

As the lines between tablets and traditional computing devices blur, Android tablets like the Redmi Pad Pro 5G are emerging as credible contenders for productivity tasks, potentially even substituting laptops or desktops on occasion.

With more affordable pricing yet sophisticated features, the Redmi Pad Pro 5G exemplifies this trend. It draws inspiration from its pricier counterpart, the Xiaomi Pad 6, to deliver a streamlined and efficient user experience.

Competitive Landscape of Redmi Pad Pro 5G:

A quick comparison reveals the Redmi Pad Pro 5 G’s superiority over many rivals in the market. Priced starting around ₹21,999, it offers a larger and better display, coupled with a more powerful chip for multitasking, compared to competitors like the Samsung Galaxy Tab A9+.

The OnePlus Pad Go comes close but lacks display versatility and battery capacity. The Honor Pad 9, while stable, lacks the power of the Redmi Pad Pro 5 G’s chip. The Lenovo Tab Plus’s industrial design may not appeal to everyone.

Display and Build Quality:

The Redmi Pad Pro 5G boasts a 12.1-inch IPS display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Dolby Vision support—features rare in mid-range Android tablets.

This makes it significantly more versatile than previous Redmi models, such as the 10.61-inch Redmi Pad and the 11-inch Redmi Pad SE. The screen’s brightness is particularly beneficial in well-lit office environments.

The “Pro” moniker is justified by the optional Redmi Keyboard, priced at ₹3,999, transforming the tablet into a viable workplace computing device. Although it lacks a touchpad, the keyboard’s ergonomics, including key spacing, travel, and responsiveness, are commendable. The optional Redmi Smart Pen, priced at ₹3,999, adds further versatility.

Performance of the Device:

Powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chip, the Redmi Pad Pro 5G outperforms most of its immediate competition, including the Honor Pad 9 and the OnePlus Pad Go. The tablet’s ability to handle split screens and floating windows demonstrates the optimizations of HyperOS for this chip.

For users with Xiaomi smartphones, the Home Screen+ feature allows seamless integration between devices, enabling easy file transfers and notification monitoring. This level of connectivity enhances the tablet’s utility as a productivity tool.

Battery Life of Redmi Pad Pro 5G:

The 10,000mAh battery, larger than its competitors, ensures long-lasting performance. In real-world use, the battery dropped from 100% to 30% after 18 hours of varied screen time at auto-brightness, making it suitable for a full day’s work without needing a charge.
