An email shared by Biju Balendran, Chief Executive at Renault-Nissan India, with the organization’s representatives, was gotten by news office Reuters. The email said the plant would be closed from May 26 to May 30 to guarantee wellbeing during rising Covid-19 cases. 

“We will proceed to intently screen the circumstance in Chennai and Tamil Nadu and return to you presently with data on when the plant will restart,” read the note shared by Balendran with workers. 

Prior, the specialists’ association at Renault-Nissan’s Tamil Nadu office had cautioned a strike from today if their Covid-related security requests were not met. 

They had requested better friendly removal measures, immunizations and higher protection cover to incorporate clinical costs for their families. 

While Nissan didn’t give any authority correspondence, Balendran’s email specifies that the organization converses with association delegates to guarantee security. 

“This will incorporate cautious thought of what extra estimates we may have to present, just as a review of current systems,” he said. 

The plant, as of now, has more than 8,000 labourers producing vehicles for both the carmakers all the while. Four of the labourers at this office have kicked the bucket until now, while over 400 others tried positive this year. 

Recently, Hyundai had additionally suspended its activities at its Tamil Nadu plant till May 30 in the wake of confronting fights from a few specialists during rising Covid-19 cases. Hyundai said the choice was taken as a careful step to guarantee the security of its workers.
