Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli Earn ₹6 Lakh Per ODI Match

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, two of the biggest names in Indian cricket, earn ₹6 lakh for every ODI match they play for India. Both batting stalwarts are now in the latter stages of their careers. After retiring from T20 Internationals and Test cricket, they represent the country only in the 50-over format, where they have continued to deliver strong performances.

Grade B Contract Worth ₹3 Crore

Under the BCCI central contract list for the 2026-27 season, both former India captains are placed in Grade B, which carries an annual retainer of ₹3 crore. Their yearly payment from the board depends on the grade assigned to them. It is separate from the match fees they collect each time they take the field for the national team.

Match fees, however, are uniform across the squad. Every national team player receives ₹6 lakh per ODI, irrespective of contract grade. This means Rohit and Kohli are paid the same per game as their younger teammates, despite their experience and stature in world cricket.

Gill, Jadeja and Bumrah Top the Pay Scale

Interestingly, the two veterans earn less in retainers than Shubman Gill, Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah. The trio features in Grade A, which pays ₹5 crore annually, the highest under the revised structure. The gap highlights how the central contract system rewards players who feature across formats.

Rohit and Kohli’s overall income is not limited to BCCI payments. Their cricketing earnings are supplemented by business ventures, investments and endorsements, which add significantly to their annual wealth.

On the field, both players remain firmly in contention for the 2027 ODI World Cup. With the tournament approaching, their form will be closely watched by selectors and fans alike.
