Rohit Sharma Makes History With 600+ International Sixes

Indian cricket star Rohit Sharma has etched his name in cricket history by becoming the only player in the world to accumulate over 600 sixes across all international formats. During India’s final ODI against South Africa, Rohit showcased his characteristic aggressive batting with a brilliant 75-run knock, further cementing his legacy as one of cricket’s most explosive batsmen.

Record-Breaking Pull Shot Mastery

Rohit’s dominance extends to his specialty—the pull shot. In ODIs alone, he has smashed an extraordinary 114 sixes off pull shots, a figure far ahead of second-placed Chris Gayle’s 48. This remarkable disparity highlights Rohit’s unparalleled skill in converting short deliveries into scoring opportunities. With 354 ODI sixes to his name, Rohit recently surpassed Shahid Afridi’s previous record, establishing himself as the leading six-hitter in one-day international cricket.

Joining Elite Century Club

During his match-winning 75-run innings, Rohit also crossed the prestigious 20,000-run milestone in international cricket. This achievement places him alongside cricket legends Virat Kohli, Sachin Tendulkar, and Rahul Dravid in an exclusive club of Indian batters who have scored over 20,000 international runs. The milestone underscores his consistency and longevity at the highest level of the sport.

Yashasvi Jaiswal emerged as the highest scorer with a magnificent 116, while Virat Kohli remained unbeaten on 65 as India chased down the target of 271 with nine wickets in hand. Rohit’s return to international cricket on the Australia tour has been marked by exceptional form, featuring one century and three fifties in five matches. India’s next ODI assignment awaits on January 11 against New Zealand at home.
