Sachin Tendulkar selects India’s opener in Australia Tests: He’s a confirmed starter’.

Key points:

  1.  Mayank Agarwal has been named on an overseas tour in all three forms of the Indian squad for the very first time in his career.
  2. He shaped the most successful opening duo of the tournament, alongside KL Rahul.
  3. Mayank, I know, is a confirmed starter as he has scored good runs, and then he should be there if Rohit is fit as well as available.
  4. After the first examination for the birth of his first baby, Kohli will return.

Mayank Agarwal has been named on an overseas tour in all three forms of the Indian squad for the very first time in his career.

Following an excellent run in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, he won his place in the Indian T20I team.

Mayank in IPL:

At a staggering strike rate of 156.45 for Kings XI Punjab, Mayank garnered a massive 424 runs from 11 matches. He shaped the most successful opening duo of the tournament, alongside KL Rahul.

Sachin Tendulkar on Mayank:

Mayank can face strong competition for the opener’s place in limited-overs from KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, however legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar feels he is a definite starter for the Tests.

India tour of Australia:

India is preparing to play a full series of three ODIs – beginning on 27 November, three T20Is – beginning from 4 December, as well as four Tests – starting on 17 December.

Tendulkar in PTI interview:

Mayank, I know, is a confirmed starter as he has scored good runs, and then he should be there if Rohit is fit as well as available.

That’ll be the management’s decision among other guys (Prithvi Shaw, KL Rahul), as they will know who the form man is,’ Tendulkar said in a PTI interview.

The last time Virat Kohli’s men travelled all the way under, Mayank had inspired many when he played his first game for India.

Further, Tendulkar said:

Tendulkar also said that, at this stage, the Australian batting line-up looks so much better. “He said, “Smith, (David) Warner as well as (Marnus) Labuschagne will be a factor, and I am sure that as far as arrangements are concerned, the Indian team will leave no stone untended.

It makes it a much better batting unit with these two seniors back in the squad and even with Labuschangne there. “It’s going to be a bit more challenging, and I’m sure India is prepared for it,” Tendulkar said.

Tendulkar on Kholi’s absence:

Like everybody else, Tendulkar also accepted that the absence of skipper Virat Kohli during three test matches would create a hole, but it would provide someone else with an opportunity at the same time. After the first examination for the birth of his first baby, Kohli will return.

Without a doubt, Virat’s not there is a major hole, but also on the other side, the kind of bench strength we have as well as the talent we have is a great opportunity for someone to develop themselves,’ Tendulkar said.
