Sanjay Raut Dares PM Modi and Amit Shah Over Vande Mataram

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut launched a sharp attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, challenging them to sing the complete version of India’s national song, Vande Mataram, without using a teleprompter. Speaking at a press conference reported by ANI News and The Times of India, Raut offered to provide a stage at Mumbai’s historic August Kranti Maidan for BJP leaders to demonstrate their recitation.

Economic Strain and Rising Inflation

Beyond the cultural debate, Raut criticized the central government’s economic track record over the past 12 years, accusing the administration of ignoring rampant inflation and the daily hardships of common citizens. He remarked that essential living expenses continue to rise while critical agricultural supplies, such as sugarcane, are diverted away from household sugar production. Raut urged ministers to step out of elite lecture halls and directly visit middle-class kitchens to understand the true financial pressure on Indian families.

Escalating Political Feud over National Song

The confrontation stems from a broader clash between the BJP and the Congress Working Committee (CWC). While the Congress decided to stick with its 1937 resolution of reciting only the first two stanzas at official party events, the BJP passed a counter-resolution opposing the move and pledging a nationwide campaign to preserve the song’s full six stanzas. Opposition leaders, including Raut and Priyanka Chaturvedi, maintain that the ruling party is using symbolic patriotism to divert public attention from pressing economic challenges.
