Second List of Congress Candidates for Gujarat Lok Sabha Polls

The Congress party has unveiled its second list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, fielding seven contenders in Gujarat to challenge the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The list comprises a diverse mix of seasoned politicians and emerging leaders, reflecting the party’s strategy to blend experience with fresh perspectives in its electoral campaign.

Key Candidates and Constituencies:

  1. Geniben Thakor: A vocal critic of the BJP and two-time MLA from Vaav, Thakor will contest from Banaskantha, aiming to secure victory against BJP’s Shankar Chaudhary.
  2. Anant Patel: A tribal leader and incumbent MLA, Patel will represent the party in the Valsad constituency, known for his advocacy on tribal issues and successful efforts to halt the PTN river-linking project.
  3. Lalit Vasoya: Former MLA Vasoya will contest from Porbandar, challenging Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
  4. Rohan Gupta: The party’s national spokesperson, Gupta, will vie for victory in Ahmedabad East, leveraging his prior role as the chairperson of the party’s social media department.

Congress Party’s Confidence and Strategy:

Congress spokesperson Manish Doshi expressed confidence in the candidates, highlighting their strong allegiance to the party and determination to challenge BJP candidates effectively.

The allocation of Bharuch and Bhavnagar Lok Sabha seats to the Aam Aadmi Party underscores the party’s strategic alliances and focused approach towards maximizing electoral gains.

Notable Absence and Party Loyalty:

Senior Congress leader Bharatsinh Solanki’s decision to refrain from contesting the elections, citing responsibilities as AICC in-charge for Jammu & Kashmir, reflects a commitment to party duties over personal aspirations.

Solanki’s willingness to abide by the party’s decision underscores a culture of loyalty and discipline within the Congress ranks.
