In two separate encounters, the security forces of
J&K eliminated 5 militants in Shopian and 3 in Awanthipura.
On Thursday, security forces of Jammu &
Kashmir launched
two separate operations in the valley and have killed at least 8 militants in
the last 24 hours. In the two encounters, five militants in Shopian and three in Awanthipura have been executed.
Three Terrorists (including two
in a mosque) killed:
Defense spokesperson Col Rajesh Kalia informed that in an encounter in the Pampore area of Awanthipura – the South Kashmir district, three militants were killed including two who took refuge in a mosque. Col. Kalia said,” Maintaining the sanctity of the mosque, two terrorists hiding inside were eliminated. Precise operation with no collateral damage ensured. Joint operation in progress.”
Five terrorists in Shopian
executed:
At least five militants were
executed in the Shopian district of J&K in an ongoing operation. Following
a tip-off, security forces reached the location of those militants and cordoned
off the area and ensured the proper safety of any citizen around the area.
Security forces cornered the militants and asked them to surrender, but the militants
started firing openly, resulting in a pretty intense shoot-out between them and
the forces. The operations are still in progress, as it is suspected that more
militants could be found on the location.
In a tweet posted by Kashmir
Police Zone, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar was quoted in the tweet saying,” Patience
and professionalism worked. No use of firing and IED. Used tear smoke smell
only. Maintained the sanctity of the #mosque. Both #terrorists hiding inside the mosque (were) neutralized.
The security forces in the
valley have upped the ante and have been carrying out such encounters on a more
frequent basis.
