See how man died in Bengaluru hail storm

A 31-year-old man drowned in a storm drain in Bengaluru on Sunday following heavy rain. Despite locals’ concerns, Lokesh stepped into the drain to assess the depth of the water, according to officials.

The power of the water swept him away, and his body was discovered in another drain at Byatarayanapura, about 12 kilometres distant.

“Bystanders warned him not to enter the water because the current was strong.” “But he didn’t listen and fell into the drain,” a police officer stated.

This was the second death recorded following the severe rain on Sunday. Bhanu Rekha, a 22-year-old Infosys employee, died after her automobile became caught in neck-deep water at an underpass. Five of her relatives were saved.

Siddaramaiah, Karnataka’s chief minister, visited Rekha’s family in a hospital and provided a 5 lakh settlement and free care for them.

Tushar Girinath, the chief commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, said the civic body would investigate how the car entered the subway despite being barricaded.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, who toured the site on Sunday night, said on Monday that he had requested a report on the state’s underpasses. “Everything will take time, but it will ensure that such an incident does not happen again.” It is our responsibility to safeguard our countrymen.”
